Alumni Association

          Alumni have some vital roles in the prosperity and development of a higher educational institution. They are always the best ambassador of an institute and their monitoring and guidance can be of immense help for the present students. Therefore, it is very important to develop a continuous relationship with the alumni and to strengthen this relationship for the improvement of an academic institution. Alumni can take various effective measures in an institution through providing mentoring, internship opportunities to newcomers,career opportunities, interaction programme, workplace opportunities for outgoing students etc. Moreover, as education is a lifelong process, alumni can create a good relationship with their institution for development of the favourable academic atmosphere. Alumni can also determine their own activities through which they can provide intellectual, physical and financial support to their Alma maters. Alumni have been implementing various initiatives for the institutions but, if they will take such initiative collectively then it will be more beneficial for the institution. They are engaged in various field of work and it is essential to present the resources of the alumni's to the new generation. It helps the new students to create a blend of theory and practice. Alumni Association can act as a bridge between students and the alma mater. They assume responsibility for keeping full records of alumni and informing them of any changes or accomplishments at the institute.

          The former students of Jhanji Hemnath Sarma College have been contributing directly and indirectly to the overall development of the college. Their contribution towards the society for the development of the institution may impact and encourage the new generation. They have also participated in various programmes and brightened the overall environment. The College community feel pride to focus that many alumni have secured remarkable positions and designations like Indian Administrative Service, Assam Civil Service, College/ University Professors, Teachers, Principals of reputed colleges, Entrepreneurs, Politics, agriculture, athletics, Social Workers, Singers, Literature, Actors etc. More than 30 alumni have secured Ph.D degree from various reputed State and Central Universities. At present time many alumni pursuing higher education in different fields. After completion of NCC 'C' certificate from this college more than 200 alumni have got job opportunities in different sector.

          Officially, several alumni came forward to form a collective alumni forum. It is a great pleasure for the college that in 2003, a meeting was held in the college premises to form the Alumni Association with the respected alumnus. The committee was reconstituted from time to time. Since its inception, several distinguished alumni have taken on the responsibilities of Presidents, Working Presidents, Secretaries and Executive Members. At present,Former Professor Dr. Anupama Mahanata, Associate Professor Dr. Birinchi Kumar Borah and Dr. Rajiv Gogoi serve asPresident, Working President, and Secretary respectively. There are several alumni conferences held in the college with the support of alumni from different parts of Assam.

          Recently an Alumni Meet was held on 24th December 2021. As a part of the event, all the retired and present faculty members of the college were honored by the Alumni Forum in the programme "Guru Pranam". With the support of the alumna's active participation, it has made a huge contribution for publishing a collection of poetry from alumni entitled as 'Kobitar Kuhipatot Shristir Plabon' and a collection of selected short stories from annual college magazine 'Abhijatri' entitled as 'Porbantaror Kothokota'.

          A number of several alumni give their financial support for development of infrastructure facilities in this college. Recently, Dr. Rajiv Gogoi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, who is also a alumni of this college has donated an LCD TV to the college costing INR 24,000/- for the benefit of the students.

The Jhanji Hemnath Sarma College Alumni- Association has duly been registered under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860.
